Article Submission
- Login to the article submission system
Please read the instructions carefully before selecting to add your article.
- After your registration for article submission has been approved you will be given access to add articles here (note that you will be notified when your registration is approved).
- You then need to login to the Article Submission system, and select 'Add Article' from the drop down box in the menu that will appear for approved registrations.
- Complete all the required fields and remember to save.
- Once you are satisfied with your article, remember to 'Submit for review'.
- You will be notified after your submission has been reviewed or if amendments are required.
- Please review your Junk/Spam folder periodically in order to verify that legitimate e-mail from SAJHE was not mistakenly filtered by your email programme.
Submission requirements
Authors should confirm that their article is original work, does not violate any contractual agreement and has not been published or is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. A copyright agreement must also be signed and returned to the journal editor after acceptance of article for publication. Please do not include any author names in the article as it will be blind reviewed.
The journal accepts submissions only from individual journal subscribers (SAJHE).
- Page fees payable on approval by Editor-in-Chief for article to be published in journal 2012 : R200 per page + R425 admin fee. An official invoice will be forwarded to the main author of the article (who will also be an individual subscriber to SAJHE).
- One invoice per article to be processed by SAJHE, if there are more than one author (from different institutions) the main author will be liable for the payment to SAJHE and the other authors will have to refund the main author.
Presentation
Authors should submit their articles online only. Please ensure that the electronic file is the latest and final version.
A title page should carry the full title (12 words)of the article, its author(s) and relevant institutional affiliation and contact details (mailing address, telephone and fax numbers and email address). The first page of the text proper should carry the title of the article but not the name(s) of the author(s). The article should be typed in double spacing (including all notes and references, and between 5 000 and 8 000 words in length. All notes should be kept to a minimum and appear at the end of the article before the list of references. Figures and tables should not be embedded in the text, but be saved as separate files at the end of each article with their position clearly marked in the text. Indicate clearly in which format they were generated. Please supply typed captions including sources and acknowledgements.
An abstract of 100-150 words in length, covering the main argument(s), methodologies and conclusions, should accompany an article plus a list of at least six keywords for abstracting and indexing services.
All articles shall be critically reviewed.
References
The Chicago Manual Style author-date system is used, that is, references are cited in the text by the author(s) name(s), the year of publication and the page number(s) in brackets, for example, (Beets 2008, 412) as a key to the full list of all references that appears at the end of the article. The list of references should include every work cited in the text. Ensure that dates, spelling and titles used in the text are accurate and consistent with those listed in the references.
